This is a really easy way of making gifs if you’re able to make Adobe Flash animations. I would only recommend this method for making text based gifs or animations made from shapes in Flash. Flash is not kind to image quality when cutting back on file size.
For this tutorial I’s just going to explain how I made the gif used as the title for this blog series:

First off make you animation in Flash, making sure your stage size is no wider than 500px if you’re planning on posting the gif on Tumblr.

I just made a very simple animation for this where the opacity of the word ‘gifs’ lowers a little in the middle. Keep in mind that the length of the animation will effect how it looks when it’s playing in a loop. For instance, this gif looks like more of a blink than a fade.
Once you have your animation you’re done! Just go File > Export > Movie

Make sure you select Animated GIF from the type drop-down. Click save and you’ll get this box:

Ensure that your gif is 500px wide (for Tumblr use) and that repetitions is on ‘0’ so the gif repeats forever. Everything else is fine. Click ok and you’re done! Easy as pie!
