This actually disturbs me because I suddenly get flooded with mental images of what Glee would look like if it were a real high-school and it’s horrifying. Like, I think we all actually look like babies in high-school except for a handful of early or speedy bloomers. I’m mainly talking about the sexual stuff here. Or the fact that Quinn was preggers at 16. Like, that is a WHOLE different image when you actually look like a 16 year old. I know mentally some of us were a lot older than we looked in school but the thought of baby-face Blaine and even season 1 Kurt getting it on seems really wrong. I feel like screaming and locking them in their bedrooms and talking to their parents. To be honest, I don’t relate Glee to genuine high-school - mainly because I always have this sort of reaction when I do. To me it’s like this fantasy reality in which 20+ years olds go to school but at the same time I’m not aware that I think they are 20+ year olds. I suppose a good way to look at it would be that I relate the content and environment to high-school but when they actually have to deal with any sort of real issue I ignore the ages in favour of how old the actors looks. Because they look older it doesn’t freak me out.
