Now if you’ll excuse me I have to go up to the school one last time for the closing night of Alice!
1Hopefully this blog will get back to normal next week when the kids are done with this show, my directing is no longer needed, and my fingers aren’t required for lighting!
This is what the school should have done instead of Boogie Wonderland in the Queen of Hearts scene in Alice.
The kids did well tonight! Their energy was up and the pace was good and I was happy as a chappy!
This school musical is going around in my head!
2It’s been nothing but this musical rehearsal for more than 12 hours a day for the last two days. Songs and peoples voices and conversations and faces and costumes are all swirling around the back of mind.
I’ve had 9 hours sleep in the last two days.
Tomorrow is from 9 til 3 though. It’s a matinee tomorrow and these kids are not ready. It needs about a week more of solid rehearsals… SO MANY people are sick and I have to jump in and read out lines where there’s missing characters. Funny thing is that when I care enough I’ve stepped into rehearsal scenes and been able to completely mimic one of their characters (to the point where people say “it’s just like having so and so here”) and I’ve only been here for a handful of rehearsals.
