This is one of my most favourite Disney moments ever.

Oz the Great and Powerful
I’ve been waiting to post this all day! WEEEE! It’s looks so good!
Taken 2 trailer
One of the most delightful shorts I’ve watched in recent memory. Poetic. Simple. Beautiful. The kind of piece that reminds me why I love film.:)
“Splitscreen: A Love Story”
Wow. Wow. This is brilliant.

A more accurate poster would be if Reese Witherspoon was not present and the two men were kissing. Is there an award for the most unintentionally homoerotic film of the year? Because this would win it.
To be honest the entire plot is bizarre and there were choices and character development that made zero sense. I mean, I understand this is a comedy but that’s no excuse for bad storytelling. For instance, after the first date with Tom Hardy she was understandably smitten. But, after her date with Chris Pine, which she only participated in to stop him annoying her and they argued for the entire first half of, she calls her friend - who I’m pretty sure is a talk show host - because she likes them both and has a hard time faulting Chris Pine. Presumably what changed her mind is he pretended to be her boyfriend in front of her ex which is stupid because he’s still a womanising asshole. This whole thing escalates to the point where the two men have strong feelings for each other her and are basically watching the other have sex with her - because that’s not weird. The intense voyeurism isn’t the only problem though, Reese Witherspoon’s character is incredibly shallow, never considering much on an actual relational level and resigning her final choice to a sex-off that the boys both know about because they are BUGGING HER HOUSE. In the end, of the two relationships based on lies fabricated from extensive and invasive research into her life, she chooses the guy who lied the most to her. And everyone’s cool with it despite the huge emotional strain that would/should come with your best friend/pseudo-brother/gay lover dating the same girl as you.
It really was entertaining nonetheless and the actors were good. But I just couldn’t get past that story.
Over the last week or so I’ve watched some classic Marilyn Monroe films on account of never having watched any before. Also, I can’t deny that Smash had got me curious about it.
The Seven Year Itch contains the iconic moment with the dress and the subway breeze. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes has the original performance of “Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend”. And she won her Golden Globe for Some Like It Hot.
I loved seeing all these landmark cinema moments for myself and I loved learning that Marilyn really was magic.
The Hunger Games: Behind The Scenes
Awesome! Extra scenes!
I just watched Hugo! It was pretty brilliant. It should not be written off as “just another kids movie” - the Oscars proving it hasn’t - because it has a sensibility and maturity that every age can relate to. It will keep you guessing longer than most adult-orientated films can. But perhaps my favourite thing is that it is visually stunning and intricate and the 3D is actually put to good use. The design left me feeling fully immersed in the world they created for the film.
But I wish to address a few *spoilery* things.
