Lady Gaga - You and I Music Video
I’m gonna be honest about my reaction here and risk being abused by the Monsters. I’ll start by saying I thought the song was good. I liked it and it has great energy. However, the video…what the fuck? I felt like I was watching two completely different videos that have been mashed together. One was this story of a mermaid being turned into a woman by a ripped, sexually promiscuous madman so he could marry her/fuck her. The other is the story of someone who’s been walking a long time in country America, apparently in a district that grows corn and has barns available to dance in. And I think she also made out with herself dressed as a man…
Cornfield-walking, barn-dancing video actually suited the song. Weird extra mermaid thing did not. At all. Plus so much unnecessary sex in it.
Now, I don’t know if people in the Gaga club know some secret about the mermaid business. But as an non-Monster observer I have to say it made no fricken sense. And in my opinion just looked like a whole lot of random stuff she had an inkling to create - and have sex with.
